A Thing of Beauty…

There’s nothing like the feeling you get when you finish a care plan.

A thing of beauty, ain't it?

It’s about 10:11pm right now and yes, I just finished mine for the week. I’d like to think that I’m getting pretty ok at them, but my head isn’t THAT big yet…. maybe in another week or so… yeah, right.

These care plans are interesting in that they provide so much information about a patient. What’s even more interesting is finding the rationale for each and every intervention the nurse can do. It’s all evidence-based, people… as much as I’d like, there are no “drink some Kool-Aid because that’s what mom used to do,” or, “walk it off” interventions. What would the medical field be like if there were, though?

“Excuse me, but I think I’m having a heart attack.”

“Walk it off. Rub some dirt in it.”

“Wow! That really worked!!!!”

I’m sure that in time, I’ll be so good at these that I won’t even have to think twice about the interventions. I’m sure that in time, I’ll be able to look at a patient’s chart and be able to say to myself, “Yup!”

Until that day comes, though, I’ll keep plugging away at these care plans and hope that I get the grade I need!

Man alive it feels good to finish this baby.
