Orientation Week…

Today was a good day. It was the first day of our next medsurg clinical rotation, and I think I’m going to like it at this hospital. I’m glad I’m at a different facility where the charts are all hard copy and not completely electronic… this forces me to learn another system. I don’t want to get too comfortable, or have it too easy when it comes to charting and finding information about patients. Why? Because I know not every hospital will be 100% electronic. The more variety I am exposed to, the better.

I’ve worked with most of the other members of this group. Like I already said, I’m glad Professor Gilmore is instructing us again. This all adds up to a good time, and that is SO important when you’re doing a 12-hour shift.

The lot of us, standing around in one REALLY white hallway...

This week’s clinicals were all about orientation… next week will be the first real day of work. I’m glad we weren’t thrown back into it today, as I needed this time to get reacquainted and acclimated into the clinical setting. I enjoyed the time off (because I didn’t have to get up at 4:30am), but I also don’t want to get too rusty.

I’m going to have to get back my routine of waking up early every morning. Right now it’s still a struggle for me to get up. I actually like starting the day before the sun rises because I can get SO much done by noontime. It’s all about making the most of the day, people.

And now it’s time to feed my face.
