Once More Unto the Breach, Dear Friends, Once More…

This is the second day of the new semester. I didn’t write about the first day because it lasted from 8am to about 6:30pm and I was dead tired by the time I got home. Man ALIVE that was a long day.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more...

Today I started the mental health clinical portion of my program. We only had orientation, but I did get to walk the floor and soak in the atmosphere. I must admit that I’m a bit nervous about the whole experience… but excited, nonetheless. I’m curious to see whether I’m made for this kind of nursing.

Tomorrow is another clinical day… back at medsurg. Professor Gilmore is our clinical instructor again, which is very cool.

So far (yes, it’s only been 2 days), I’m really enjoying the classes so far. Sure, I fell asleep for a bit during patho (give me a break, the class was 3+ hours long), I totally dug each lecture. I’m going to have to bring some more snacks to keep my energy up during those long days.

It was good to see my classmates again. I feel like we’ve known each other for years… time is relative…

It’s funny… during the break, I was actually looking forward to classes… and now that they’ve started again, I can’t wait for the next break. When I look back on the week of nothingness, I see that I could have done more. Sure, I got to play some music, and sure, I finally got some good sleep, but I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, you know? I didn’t go nuts, I didn’t party like it was 1999, and I didn’t go anywhere.

Man, I need to learn how to party again.

Is this a sign that I’m getting old?
